Former Dolphins RB Mercury Morris tweets support of Newton, Panthers

The Carolina Panthers saw their undefeated season come to an end Sunday, but former Miami Dolphins great Mercury Morris was not celebrating.
Morris, a member of the undefeated 1972 Dolphins, tweeted his support of Cam Newton and the Panthers after their first loss of the season. Morris has a history of commenting on undefeated teams, even appearing in an NFL commercial after the Patriots’ unbeaten season ended in 2007.
Sunday, Morris said he does not “toast” to teams’ losses, and was effusive in his praise of Newton and the Panthers.
First of all, I take my hat off to the @panthers and @CameronNewton for getting as far as they did...

I was looking forward to having @CameronNewton in that seat next to me but hey, THERE'S ALWAYS NEXT YEAR. #StillPerfect

And for the record, we DO NOT TOAST every time an unbeaten team loses. There's no champagne in my glass, only Canada Dry Ginger ale! Ha!
— Mercury Morris (@MercuryMorris22) December 27, 2015
So PLEASE STOP with this champagne stuff! Why would I want @CameronNewton to lose? He's having a great season!

Now @CameronNewton and the @Panthers can get back to what's important, and that's WINNING A CHAMPIONSHIP!

Morris was not the only former Dolphin tweeting about the Panthers. Former head coach Don Shula, whose son Mike is Carolina’s offensive coordinator, also tweeted a photo in support during the game.
