The Denver Broncos will wear white uniforms during Super Bowl 50, despite being the home team, according to the Associated Press.

Broncos general manager John Elway says the decision was made because of the franchise’s history with the white uniforms.

“We’ve had Super Bowl success in our white uniforms,” the Hall of Fame quarterback said.

Denver wore white uniforms the last time it won the Super Bowl, beating the Atlanta Falcons, 34–17, in 1999. That win was also Elway’s final game.

The Broncos previously won the Super Bowl in 1998, beating the Green Bay Packers to earn the NFL title, but wore blue uniforms for that game.

Denver plays the NFC champion Carolina Panthers on Feb. 7.
