Carolina Panthers head coach Ron Rivera was named the 2015 NFL Coach of the Year at the league’s annual award show Saturday night. It’s the second time he’s won the award in the last three seasons; he was previously honored in 2013.

Despite losing top wide receiver Kelvin Benjamin to a knee injury before the season, Rivera coached the Panthers to a 15–1 regular-season record, surpassing expectations. Carolina topped Seattle 31–24, and Arizona 49–15 to win the NFC championship and return to the Super Bowl for the second time in franchise history.

Cam Newton named NFL MVP

Rivera’s Panthers ranked No. 1 in the league in points scored, and sixth in yards against. They also led the NFL in takeaway-to-giveaway ratio.
