Former Notre Dame QB Tommy Rees hired as Chargers offensive assistant

Former Notre Dame quarterback Tommy Rees has been named an offensive assistant coach for the San Diego Chargers, the team announced on Tuesday.

Rees played for the Fighting Irish from 2010 to 2013 and will be reunited with former teammates Manti Te'o, Chris Watt and Trevor Robinson. While at Notre Dame, he finished his career having thrown 7,670 yards for 61 touchdowns and 31 interceptions.

Rees went undrafted after his senior year at Notre Dame. He signed a contract with the Washington Redskins but was later released. Last year, Rees joined Pat Fitzgerald’s coaching staff at Northwestern as an offensive graduate assistant.

Marquice Williams has also been added to head coach Mike McCoy's staff as a special teams assistant.
