The Jets have released veteran cornerback Antonio Cromartie, the team announced on Monday.
New York frees up $8 million in cap space with the move.
Cromartie signed a four-year, $32 million deal to return to the Jets last off-season, but wasn’t guaranteed any money past his first season. In 15 games, he made 33 tackles in 2015 with a fumble recovery and team-high 16 pass defenses.
New York now has a starting spot open opposite Darrelle Revis on defense. Buster Skrine, the team’s nickel corner, is next on the depth chart.
