Falcons assistant Cox apologizes for incident at NFL combine

ATLANTA (AP) Atlanta Falcons defensive line coach Bryan Cox is apologizing for an altercation with another team's scout at the NFL combine in Indianapolis.

According to several media reports, Cox shoved a scout from the Arizona Cardinals on Friday night in a dispute over access to a rookie during the interview process.

Cox issued a statement Sunday saying, ''I intend to apologize to the young man for the incident.'' He also says, ''It shouldn't have happened.''

Cox, who spent more than a decade in the NFL as a player, is heading into his third season as a Falcons assistant.
