Browns re-sign linebacker Carder, tender free agent Pryor

CLEVELAND (AP) The Browns re-signed backup linebacker Tank Carder and extended qualifying offers to several players, including wide receiver Terrelle Pryor.

Carder, who has been with Cleveland since 2012, was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent when the market opens on Wednesday. However, the Browns kept one of their best special teams players and a valuable backup. Carder has played in 62 games with the Browns.

Pryor made two starts last season, the former quarterback's first as a wide receiver. If Pryor signs an offer sheet with another team, the Browns have the right of first refusal and would receive draft-pick compensation equal to his original draft round.

The Browns also extended qualifying offers to offensive lineman Austin Pasztor, backup linebacker Scott Solomon and special teamer Don Jones. Cleveland retained backup nose tackle Jamie Meder as an exclusive rights free agent along with kickoff returner Raheem Mostert.
