Report: Eagles, Dolphins discussing trade involving Byron Maxwell
The Eagles are currently in discussion with the Dolphins about a trade that would send cornerback Byron Maxwell to Miami, reports Ian Rapoport of NFL.com.
Maxwell, 28, signed a six-year, $63 million deal last season. He is expected to earn $8.5 million in 2016 and $10 million for his base salary for the 2017 season.
Rapoport reports that the deal “could happen soon” and Miami would not have to give up more than a late-round draft pick for the cornerback.
Maxwell started 14 games for the Eagles last season and finished with 64 combined tackles, four assists and two interceptions.
Fellow cornerback Nolan Carroll, who recorded 57 tackles last season, is also a free agent for the Eagles. The Dolphins currently have Brent Grimes at cornerback.
