Dolphins, Mario Williams agree to two-year deal
The Miami Dolphins have signed defensive end Mario Williams to a two-year deal, the team announced Tuesday night.
Williams confirmed the terms of his deal—two years, $17 million with a potential $3 million more in incentives—to ESPN’s Josina Anderson.
“It feels rejuvenating,” Williams told Anderson.
After being released by the Buffalo Bills last week, Williams will stay within the AFC East and bolster Miami’s edge rush. The 31-year-old pass-rusher had difficulty adjusting during Rex Ryan’s first season in Buffalo, and he finished with five sacks in 2015 after totaling 38 in his first three years with the Bills.
The acquisition of Williams likely signals the end for either Cameron Wake or Olivier Vernon in Miami, according to ProFootballTalk. Jason La Canfora reports that the Dolphins could either release Wake after fruitless long-term negotiations or remove the transition tag from Vernon.

The Dolphins finished 6–10 in 2015, fourth in their division. The team hired Adam Gase as head coach to replace Dan Campbell, who took over for Joe Philbin four games into last season.
