The Bears and defensive tackle Akiem Hicks have agreed to a two-year deal, the team announced Sunday night.

Hicks, 26, was acquired by the Patriots three weeks into last season in exchange for tight end Michael Hoomanawanui. He recorded 21 total tackles with three sacks and returned a fumble for a touchdown in Week 14.

The four-year veteran was a third-round pick of the Saints in 2012, and spent three full season there before he was dealt to New England.

The 6' 5", 324-pounder will likely play some at defensive end with the Bears. He joins linebackers Danny Trevathan and Jerrell Freeman in the Bears’ revamped front seven.
