The Cleveland Browns have released wide receiver Dwayne Bowe, the team announced Wednesday.

Cleveland.com’s Mary Kay Cabot first reported the news.

Bowe, 31, signed a two-year, $9 million contract with the Browns last off-season. In just seven games last season, Bowe registered five receptions for 53 yards and no touchdowns.

In his nine NFL seasons, Bowe has accumulated 537 catches for 7,208 yards and 44 touchdowns.

Bowe was a Pro Bowler and second team All-Pro choice in 2010. He was selected by the Kansas City Chiefs in the first round of the 2007 draft out of Louisiana State.

Cleveland also released linebacker Karlos Dansby on Wednesday.
