Report: 49ers reduce Ian Williams’s contract after failed physical
The 49ers have reportedly reduced Ian Williams’s contract to a one-year deal due to a failed physical.
The San Francisco 49ers have reduced Ian Williams’s contract to a one-year deal due to a failed physical, reports CSN Bay Area’s Matt Maiocco.
The new deal is worth $6 million, according to ESPN.
The nose tackle originally agreed to a new five-year deal, worth $27.5 million with San Francisco earlier this month. According to the report, after Williams had a team physical it was determined that he would need more time to rehab from surgery on his left leg that he had during the off-season.
The 6’1”, 305-pound nose tackle had dealt with injuries before, breaking his ankle back in 2013 and his leg in 2014.
Williams, 26, recorded 65 tackles, a sack and a forced fumble while starting in all 16 games last year.
