Josh McCown expects to compete against Robert Griffin III for the Cleveland Browns’ starting quarterback job, according to Pro Football Talk.

“Right now, it’s come in and compete and show up, so that’s what I’ll do,” McCown said on PFT Live. “If that changes, that changes, and I’ll go to that next place and compete there as well...I’ll go with that mindset, and if they see differently and I am traded or moved along, I’ll appreciate my time there and then go embrace the next opportunity.”

McCown, 36, started eight games for the Browns after signing a three-year, $14 million deal. He posted a 93.3 quarterback rating with 2,109 yards and 12 touchdowns.

Griffin signed a two-year contract with the Browns after being released by the Washington Redskins, where he spent the first four years of his career. He did not play in any of Washington’s games last year but holds a 14–21 record as a starter.

The Browns also hold the No. 2 overall pick in next month’s NFL draft and could select a quarterback.
