Surveillance video obtained by Fox 8 in New Orleans appears to show former Saints defensive end Will Smith involved in a hit-and-run accident with the man who allegedly shot him to death on Saturday

The video shows a red Hummer and silver Mercedes SUV in the area around the scene of the shooting. The alleged shooter, Cardell Hayes, was driving a red Hummer, and Smith was driving a silver Mercedes.

In the video, the Hummer stops at one point and appears to be bumped by the Mercedes. The Hummer pulls over to the curb and the Mercedes pulls around the Hummer.

Hayes’s attorney, John Fuller, told reporters that his client collided with Smith’s SUV while following a hit-and-run driver but did not identify Smith as the driver.

Smith’s wife Racquel was also injured in the shooting. She was hospitalized with two gunshot wounds to her leg.

Smith, 34, last played for the Saints in 2012.
