CINCINNATI (AP) The Bengals exercised a one-year contract option for Tyler Eifert on Wednesday, keeping the tight end signed through 2017.

Eifert is one of Andy Dalton's favorite options near the goal line, catching 13 touchdown passes last season - second most in the NFL and a record for a Bengals tight end. He was third on the team overall with 52 catches for 615 yards despite missing most of four games with a pinched nerve and a concussion.

Eifert was the 13th overall pick in 2013 from Notre Dame. He started 15 games as a rookie and had 39 catches for 445 yards and a pair of touchdowns. He missed nearly the entire 2014 season with an elbow injury.
