New England Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman underwent surgery on his left foot in the off–season but remains on track to return to the team ahead of training camp, reports ESPN's Adam Schefter.

This is the second surgery on Edelman's left foot in the past year, as he broke his foot against the New York Giants in November. The first procedure inserted a screw in his foot but caused him to miss the remainder of the regular season. He did play in the postseason.

The off-season clean-up surgery was to reinsert the screw from his last procedure. Edelman was seen wearing a protective boot at the Patriots' facility.
