The Eagles have signed defensive lineman Fletcher Cox to a contract extension with $63 million in guaranteed money, reports ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
The guaranteed money is the largest amount for any non-quarterback in NFL history, according to the report. Cox’s deal could be worth up to $103 million if he plays through all six years of the contract.
The MMQB’s Albert Breer reports Cox’s new average annual salary of $17.13 million is second only to Dolphins defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh among interior linemen.
The Eagles selected Cox with the No. 12 overall pick in the 2012 NFL draft. Last season, Cox recorded 71 tackles, with 9 1/2 sacks and three forced fumbles.
