Report: Broncos make record offer to Von Miller as deadline nears

The Broncos have upped their offer to Von Miller as Friday’s 4 p.m. franchise tag signing deadline nears, ESPN reports.
The Super Bowl MVP’s new offer reportedly includes a record $70 million in guaranteed money as part of a six-year, $114.5 million contract framework which had already been agreed upon. The deal would make him Denver’s highest-paid player ever and the highest-paid non-quarterback player in the history of the NFL. An ESPN source was “optimistic“ the deal would get done. Earlier reports indicated Denver’s first offer included 38.5 million guaranteed.
Miller’s franchise tag is a guaranteed one-year, $14 million offer. He has repeatedly and publicly stated he will not play next season under the franchise tag, stating that it reflects a wider issue of contractual fairness in the league.
Miller, 27, made 35 tackles and 11 sacks in his fifth NFL season, helping lead the Broncos to a championship and earning the Super Bowl 50 MVP award.
