Hall of Fame DT Warren Sapp bitten by shark while lobstering

Former NFL defensive tackle Warren Sapp can now add surviving a shark attack to his list of accomplishments.

The Hall of Famer was lobstering on a charter in the Florida Keys on Wednesday when the incident occurred.

“It’s simple,” charter captain Jack Carlson told the Tampa Bay Times. “He was lobstering with me and a shark bit Sapp while he was grabbing the lobster. He’s OK.

“The sharks hang around those lobster holes because they feed on the lobster as well,” Carlson added.

Thankfully, Sapp was only up against what one witness called a small nurse shark. However, the shark did still manage to take a chunk out of his arm.

The charter, Two Conchs, posted a photo of the injury to Instagram. Warning: It’s a little gruesome.

Sapp didn’t seem too fazed by his brush with danger.

“Shark got a little chunk of Me. We got Dinner!” he wrote in an tweet Wednesday.

Clearly a worthy tradeoff.

Sapp retired from the NFL in 2008.
