Patriots rookie wideout Malcolm Mitchell left Thursday’s preseason opener against the Saints after sustaining a gruesome arm injury in the second quarter. He did not return.

ESPN reports Mitchell is likely to miss four weeks with what initial testing showed to be a dislocated elbow.

As Mitchell went to the ground following an eight-yard reception, he put his arm down on the turf to brace for impact, and his elbow seemed to bend in the wrong direction. He immediately went down to the ground in pain.

Video of the injury, which is graphic in nature, can be found here.

Mitchell, a fourth-round pick out of Georgia, had four catches in the quarter. He joins a list of ailing New England wideouts, including Danny Amendola, Julian Edeman and Keshawn Martin.
