The Patriots reportedly have traded for Browns linebacker Barkevious Mingo.
The Patriots have acquired linebacker Barkevious Mingo from the Browns, the teams announced Thursday.
Cleveland will receive a fifth-round pick in return.
Mingo was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2013 draft. In three seasons with Cleveland, he registered 108 tackles and seven sacks in 46 games.
The Patriots are likely to enter the regular season without two starters at defensive end/linebacker, with Rob Ninkovich working his way back from a triceps injury and Jabaal Sheard nursing a sprained MCL.
Mingo largely struggled in Cleveland, failing to find a consistent role in the Browns defense. All of Cleveland’s first-round picks from 2011 to 2013 are no longer with the team.
