Report: Bengals’ Tyler Eifert targeting Week 4 return

Bengals tight end Tyler Eifert could be back from an ankle injury as soon as Week 4, NFL.com’s Ian Rapoport reports.

Eifert has begun jogging after tearing ligaments in his ankle during last season’s Pro Bowl and is on target to take the field between Weeks 4–6. Rapoport reports he is feeling well enough to try playing in Week 3, but the Bengals prefer not to push it.

Eifert, 25, was one of the NFL’s top red–zone weapons last season, catching 52 passes for 615 yards and 13 touchdowns. He led all tight ends in scores.

The Bengals lost receivers Marvin Jones and Mohamed Sanu in free agency, leaving Eifert and A.J. Green as the team’s top returning pass-catchers.
