Chargers RB Branden Oliver sustained an Achilles injury during his team’s preseason game against the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, San Diego announced.

Oliver went down without being contacted and had to be carted off the field late in the first half. According to Michael Gehlken of the San Diego Union-Tribune, Oliver has been ruled out for the rest of the season.

The 25-year-old was hoping to regain the role of a solid contributor that he held during his rookie season in 2014. That season, he carried the ball 160 times for 582 yards and three touchdowns.

Oliver is currently listed as the third running back on the San Diego depth chart behind Melvin Gordon and Danny Woodhead.
