Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton opened up about the Panthers' loss to the Denver Broncos in Super Bowl 50 and called it an 'extremely personal' moment for him, according to the Associated Press.

"No one likes losing, so I took it extremely personal," Newton said.

“I've been on the record saying that I'm a sore loser,” he added. “Who likes to lose? You show me a good loser and I'm going to show you a loser. It's not a popularity contest. I am here to win football games.”

Newton went 18-for-41 with 265 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in the 24–10 loss. He did not tell reporters if he has gone back to watch film of the loss.

The Panthers will open the season with a rematch of the Super Bowl on Thursday night against the Broncos at Sports Authority Field.
