Dolphins coach Adam Gase says 'almost' isn't good enough

DAVIE, Fla. (AP) In Week 1, the Miami Dolphins almost closed out a win in Seattle. In Week 2, they almost pulled off a great comeback in New England.

And they're 0-2 anyway.

So a day after Miami wide receiver Jarvis Landry said ''almost'' can't be good enough, Dolphins coach Adam Gase agreed - even showing some frustration with the notion.

''We put ourselves in that position, whether it be offense, defense or special teams,'' Gase said. ''So we have to clean some things up. If we get on the details of things, that's going to give us our best opportunity to win a game.''

That next chance comes Sunday in Miami's home opener against the Cleveland Browns. Even at 0-2 and with the odds already stacked against Miami, Gase said it's not time to panic.

''It's the third game of the year, '' Gase said. ''I think we're looking at it as we better get back to work on Wednesday.''

Miami faces the challenge of playing three games in less than two weeks, with a trip to Cincinnati looming one week from Thursday. And if that wasn't enough, Gase is also dealing with uncertainty at the running back position. Starter Arian Foster suffered a groin injury in the second quarter and did not return to the game.

''He's going to be day-to-day right now,'' Gase said. ''We haven't really made any decisions on whether or not we're going to try to get him out at practice on Wednesday. I think we're just going to get through today, see where he's at tomorrow and then when we get to Wednesday just kind of evaluate what's best for us.''

NOTES: RB Kenyan Drake had the ball from his touchdown run Sunday - the first of his career - on display at his locker Monday. ... WR DeVante Parker (hamstring) made his season debut and caught eight passes for 108 yards. Gase said he was pleased. ''He's a guy that we need to keep on the field,'' Gase said.
