Eagles content with 2 QBs, despite Nick Foles' injury

PHILADELPHIA (AP) The Philadelphia Eagles are going with only two quarterbacks after releasing Matt McGloin and Dane Evans, even though backup Nick Foles didn't play in the preseason because of an elbow injury.

Incumbent punter Donnie Jones beat out Cameron Johnson, undrafted rookie running back Corey Clement made the roster, and linebacker Nate Gerry was the only draft pick cut. Gerry was selected in the fifth round and was transitioning from safety to linebacker.

The team currently has five running backs, including fourth-round pick Donnel Pumphrey, and six wide receivers, including rookies Mack Hollins and Shelton Gibson, and Marcus Johnson, who spent 2016 on the practice squad.

Other players cut were: OL Josh Andrews, TE Billy Brown, OTs Dillon Gordon and Taylor Hart, G Darrell Greene, DT Justin Hamilton, RB Byron Marshall, C Aaron Neary, CBs C.J. Smith and Jomal Wiltz, and WRs Bryce Treggs and Greg Ward.
