Allen has thrown for 493 yards and four touchdowns without an interception to keep Carolina (2-2) afloat in the NFC South while Newton recovers from a foot injury. Allen completed 24 of 34 passes for 232 yards in last Sunday’s, 16-10, victory at Houston. He was helped out by all-purpose back Christian McCaffrey, who had 93 yards rushing and 86 receiving, while amassing a career-high 37 combined touches.

The Panthers’ defense has also made notable contributions, forcing four turnovers in the last two games and holding three straight opponents under 300 yards. Carolina has recorded 14 sacks in the last two games after getting to Deshaun Watson six times in Houston, with Mario Addison recording a team-best 5.5 takedowns.

Minshew, the Jaguars’ fifth-round pick in this year’s draft, has been playing since Nick Foles suffered a clavicle injury in Week 1. He's kept Jacksonville (2-2) in the thick of its division race since everyone in the AFC South is .500 through four games.

Minshew rallied the Jaguars to a 26-24 win at Denver last Sunday, directing an eight-play, 60-yard drive to set up Josh Lambo’s game-winning 33-yard field goal as time expired. Minshew finished 19 of 33 for 213 yards and a pair of touchdowns, marking the third time he has recorded at least two scoring tosses.
