Going into the 2019 season, if you were told the 49ers and Rams were playing in Week 6 and one team would be undefeated, it would have been assumed that Los Angeles was the team without a loss. But it has been the Niners that have exceeded expectations in 2019, setting up a crucial clash in the NFC West that has serious postseason implications.

The Niners come into this game riding high after a dominant 31–3 victory over the Browns on Monday Night Football. San Francisco held the Browns to just 180 total yards of offense, forcing four turnovers and creating consistent pressure on Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. They racked up 275 yards rushing in that contest, and lead the league with 200 yards per game on the ground for the season. This will be by far the biggest test the 49ers have faced this season, with a road division game against the defending conference champions serving as an opportunity to prove that they are a legitimate contender in the NFC.
Los Angeles, meanwhile, is coming off of back-to-back losses after a 3–0 start to the season. The first of those losses saw them give up 55 points and 464 yards to the Buccaneers, which they followed up with a tight Thursday night loss to the Seahawks. The Rams outgained the Seahawks 477-429 in that game, but a missed field goal by Greg Zuerlein in the final minute was enough to drop the Rams to 3–2. These losses have put the Rams at risk of falling to .500 if they fail to get the job done against San Francisco at home.
