Source: Mason Rudolph Will be Fined for Role in Myles Garrett Brawl

Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph will be fined for his role Thursday night's brawl with Browns defensive end Myles Garrett, according to Sports Illustrated's Albert Breer.

The reported fine comes after the NFL suspended Garrett indefinitely without pay for his attack on Rudolph in the final seconds of the game. On third-and-29, Rudolph connected with Trey Edmunds on a short pass before Garrett tackled him. Rudolph thought the hit came late and aggressively tried to take Garrett's helmet off as they exchanged words. As Rudolph stood up, Garrett retaliated by ripping the quarterback's helmet off and swinging it at him, striking him in the head.

Multiple players threw punches and three, including Garrett, were ejected from the game.

The Browns and Steelers received $250,000 fines from the NFL on Friday and three players were suspended. Garrett's indefinite ban is at a minimum for the remainder of the regular season and postseason.

"Garrett violated unnecessary roughness and unsportsmanlike conduct rules, as well as fighting, removing the helmet of an opponent and using the helmet as a weapon," the NFL said in a statement.

Cleveland's Larry Ogunjobi was suspended without pay for one game and fined an additional amount for unnecessary roughness for his role in the fight. Pittsburgh's Maurkice Pouncey received a three-game ban and additional fine.

A source told Breer that no additional players, including Rudolph, will be suspended

Rudolph's agent, Tim Younger, told ESPN on Friday he "isn't ruling out any legal options" following the brawl.

"I am gathering all information and no options have been removed from the table," Younger said.

Sgt. Jennifer Ciaccia of the Cleveland Police Department told ESPN they are not investigating Garrett and had not received a complaint from Rudolph.

Garrett issued a statement on Friday to apologize to Rudolph for hitting him in the head with his helmet.

"Last night, I made a terrible mistake,” Garrett said. “I lost my cool and what I did was selfish and unacceptable. I know that we are all responsible for our actions and I can only prove my true character through my actions moving forward. I want to apologize to Mason Rudolph, my teammates, our entire organization, our fans and to the NFL. I know I have to be accountable for what happened, learn from my mistake and I fully intend to do so."
