What is the Easiest Stretch of Games on the 49ers 2023 Schedule?

In this story:

The San Francisco 49ers have a difficult schedule for the 2023 regular season.

For starters, nine of the teams they will face this year made the playoffs last year along with two additions teams who finished the year .500 or better. They also have the biggest disadvantage of all teams in the league when it comes to rest days, per Warren Sharp.

Still, in every NFL team's schedule there is a stretch of games that are easy. Even for a difficult schedule like the 49ers, there is a stretch that can be considered easy, or in their case the "easiest" relative to the rest of the schedule.

So, what is the easiest stretch of games on the 49ers' 2023 schedule?

It's the first four weeks of the season. The 49ers are at Pittsburgh, at Los Angeles to face the Rams, home versus the Giants on Thursday night, and home against the Cardinals. This could be a 4-0 start for the 49ers, and to be frank it should be. I know they always tend to start off their season slow. It's like clockwork for them every single year no matter who they are facing.

The Steelers on the road will not be pushovers and they are the toughest matchup for the 49ers of all four teams during this stretch. They finished with a .500 record last year and have a solid defense. San Francisco's offense could have some fits, but the 49ers should be able to beat the Steelers because they have Kenny Pickett. He is going to be food for the 49ers defense. A multi-sack and -interception game is what is going to take place. All the 49ers have to do is score 20 points (maybe even a bit less) and they'll win.

Following that road game, they have another one technically against the Rams, but that is going to be a 49ers home game. The Rams are depleted going into a semi-rebuild and semi-contending year. It's tough to tell what their goals even are in 2023, but they certainly are going to want to defeat the 49ers. I just don't see it happening. The 49ers own them in the regular season, and I don't believe it changes in Week 2. That should be a win for them against the Rams who have only three notable players.

Next up is a short week home game versus the Giants. Now, the Giants were a playoff team last year and shocked everyone with an impressive season. But they are not an impressive team. Much like Pickett with the Steelers, Daniel Jones is going to be food for the 49ers defense. And much like the Rams, the Giants only have three notable players as well. The 49ers should win this one with relative ease.

To end this four-game stretch, the 49ers host the Cardinals, which really doesn't need much of any explanation as to why they will win. They are a bona fide top three NFL draft pick team when the 2023 season is all said and done. Really, the greatest challenge the 49ers face in this four-game stretch is themselves. They have to stop beating themselves with costly mistakes and poor execution, especially on offense. It's typically the offense that starts out slow for the 49ers, so if they can mitigate that for once, then I see no reason why they shouldn't start out 4-0.
