Bears DT Wishes Aaron Rodgers Was Back

Bears defensive tackle Justin Jones lashes out at Green Bay Packers fans and wishes Aaron Rodgers wasn't with the Jets so he could experience a Chicago win.

In this story:

Aaron Rodgers has barely been gone a few weeks yet one Bears player is making certain the team's rivalry with the Green Bay Packers is ready to move into a new phase no less bitter than the first century-plus.

Bears defensive tackle Justin Jones took aim at Green Bay fans themselves with an expletive. It's not his first time ripping Packers fans as he did it last year as well, but not as blatantly as he did Tuesday on the first day of minicamp.

Jones said he wished Rodgers was not in New York.

"I wish he played one more year with Green Bay, honestly," Jones said. "We went up there and we played a pretty good game, but it got away from us at the end, obviously, and they won.

"But their fans are really sh----. So yeah, I wanted to go back up there and I wanted to play them and I wanted to beat them and I wanted him to be there so he could see it. But the fact that he is gone, I mean, it's cool. I guess it's better for him not to be here (facing the Bears). But yeah, I'm ready to take it over. I mean, it's a good time to be a Bears fan. I'm not even going to lie to you."

The Bears lost at Green Bay 27-10 in Week 2 last year and then lost 28-19 at Chicago Dec. 4 after they led 19-10 early in the fourth quarter.

Green Bay has won 13 of the last 14 games with the Bears and eight straight as the Aaron Rodgers era was total dominance in the NFL's most ancient rivalry.

Asked what was so bad about Packer fans, Jones held little back.

"Man. Just the way they're just (expletive) obnoxious just yelling and all that other stuff about things that don't even matter," Jones said. "Like, we're not even running a play, you guys are talking about 'boo, oh yeah, go green,' like what are you even talking about? The game hasn't even started yet, like what are we talking about here? Whatever bro.

"Half of them don't even know football. It's so weird to me. But I'm just ready to back out there and play and I want to go out there and I want to beat the hell out of them on their field and I want to hear the boos then. That's what I look forward to."

The rivals face each other at Soldier Field in the Sept. 10 opener. Jones believes this is a different Bears team in a few ways than the one that lost 10 straight to start last season.

"It's a whole different locker room than it was last year, I'll tell you that," he said. "Obviously, after the season's over, we got a lot more guys who are more team-oriented vs. themselves. When you've got a bunch of guys that are on one-year deals and they're all worried about what they're gonna be doing next year. It's kind of hard to build a tight group.

"But when you've got guys that are going to be here for three years, four years, two years, guys who really want to come in here and win, that's when you really start cooking with fire because now you've got talented players and you've got guys that want to be here and want to play for the Bears. It's gonna be a good deal."

Packer fans might see something different than they're used to against the Bears.

At least Jones has to hope so after his comments.
