Bears Reportedly Adding Former Ravens QB

In this story:
The Bears are adding a fourth quarterback, which can't mean good news with Justin Fields' thumb injury.
Former Ravens and Cardinals quarterback Trace McSorley is being added to the Bears practice squad per a report by Jordan Schultz. McSorley has been out of the league since being cut by New England at the end of preseason.
McSorley, who is 6-foot, 202 pounds, played college football at Penn State, was drafted in Round 6 by the Ravens in 2019 and threw only 10 passes for them. He spent 2019-21 being shuttled back and forth between the practice squad and regular roster for the Ravens, then was signed by the Cardinals and later put on their practice squad after being waived. They released him in October of 2022 and he tried to catch on with the Patriots this year.
He has one NFL start and nine games played, with 48 completions in 93 attempts for 502 yards, 5.4 yards per attempt and one touchdown with five interceptions. He has a 48.8 career passer rating.
The lone start made by McSorley came for the Cardinals last year, a 19-16 loss to Tampa Bay in which he completed 24 of 45 passes for 217 yards with an interception but no touchdowns.
The Bears have Nathan Peterman and McSorley backing up Tyson Bagent, if Fields can't play for any period of time. Fields has been labeled doubtful for this week's game against Las Vegas by coach Matt Eberflus due to a dislocated thumb.
Peterman had been on the practice squad but was promoted to the 53-man roster just before last week's game.
