Bears Sign Trio Among Rookie Tryouts
The Bears found three undrafted free agents to sign from tryouts they held at the weekend rookie minicamp.
They have reportedly signed Houston defensive tackle D'Anthony Jones, Louisiana cornerback Bralen Trahan and Notre Dame tackle Josh Lugg.
Trahan's signing was reported by The Athletic's Kevin Fishbain. Trahan was a highly productive safety who didn't test well at the school's pro day. The 6-foot, 191-pounder was in 57 games for Louisiana and made 13 career interceptions and two forced fumbles. He had 211 total tackles, 115 solo. He had four interceptions last season and also in the 2020 season.
At his pro day, Trahan had a 4.58-second 40, 32-inch vertical leap and 9-foot-4 broad jump.
Lugg's signing was reported by his agency, Shark Sports Management. He is a 6-7, 314-pound tackle who projects as a guard in the NFL with shorter, 31-1/2 inch arms. He ran a 40 in 5.4 seconds. Lugg was ranked 22nd by veteran NFL.com writer Chad Reuter among undrafted free agent tackles.
KPRC reporter Aaron Wilson in Houston reported D'Anthony's signing. D'Anthony is a bit of an undersized three technique at 6-foot, 276 pounds, although he had been listed at 283 pounds earlier in the offseason. He ran a 5.15-second 40-yard dash and bench-pressed 225 pounds 23 times.
Jones produced on the field with 15 sacks and 23 tackles for loss over three seasons at Houston, including eight sacks and 13 TFLs lsat year. He also forced nine fumbles at Houston, including five last year.
