Nathan Peterman Returns as Third QB

Nathan Peterman will return to the Bears to be third quarterback behind Justin Fields and PJ Walker.

If the Bears bring in an undrafted rookie quarterback or even a draft pick to battle for the third QB spot, he'll have competition.

Nathan Peterman has signed to return to the Bears. Peterman, 28, was the third Bears quarterback last year and was with the team only on a one-year contract. He would be behind Justin Fields and PJ Walker.

He actually didn't make the team and was on the practice squad before being elevated following an injury to Fields.

Peterman got into three games last year and started the season finale against the Minnesota Vikings. He split time in that game with former Bears fourth quarterback Tim Boyle.

Peterman has played in 13 NFL games during five seasons and made five starts.

He went 14 of 25 for 139 yards with a touchdown and a

n interception for the Bears in his three games.

For his career, Peterman is 85 of 160 (53.1%) for 712 yards with four touchdowns and 13 interceptions. He owns a career passer rating of 54.8.

Last season Peterman was suddenly thrust into a possible starting role against the Jets when backup Trevor Siemian was to start in place of injured Fields, but suffered an oblique injury in warmups. However, at the last second, Siemian started and played the full game before going out for the year with the injury, which required surgery.

Peterman played for Buffalo and Las Vegas before he played with the Bears. He has a career record of 1-4 as a starter and his first four starts were for the Bills.
