Maybe the proposed stadium in Arlington Heights is more necessary than some think.

Either that, or going 3-14 tends to diminish the luster of the product.

Sportico released its NFL valuations and the Bears are valued at $6 billion. It's eighth highest and the value is 20% higher than in 2022, but their value dropped in relation to other NFL teams.

Both the Washington Commanders and the New York Jets climbed ahead of them since the last Sporitco valuation.

A new stadium could be a huge boost in revenue for the Bears, particularly one they own. They own the property at the old Arlington International Racecourse but the project seems to be a stalemate at the moment because area taxing bodies haven't dropped their demands and also because the Bears haven't yet been assured infrastructure needs will be addressed by the communities in the area.

The team is in the process of demolishing the old grandstand after Cook County assessed the property value for tax purposes at five times what it had been at last assessment, one done while the horse track was still in operation.

Other communities have gotten involved. Naperville, Waukegan and Aurora are at the top of the list, and Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson has met with Bears president Kevin Warren.

The Dallas Cowboys remain No. 1 and their valuation was $9.2 billion, 20% higher than last year. The New York Giants had the highest increase in value of top five teams with 23% and have moved up from third to second as the value of both the L.A. Rams and New England Patriots increased at much lower rates. The Rams dropped from second to third after a 17% increase in value and the Patriots also dropped a spot after their value increased only 14%.

The Denver Broncos had the lowest value increase of all teams at 5% and dropped four spots on the value chart to 14th.

Green Bay dropped three spots as its value increased 13%. The Packers are 17th in value. The other NFC North teams are the Vikings at 20th, down two spots, and Detroit at 30th, one spot higher than last year. However, the Lions' value of $4.1 billion was 43% higher than in 2022, the greatest increase of all 32 NFL teams.
