Bengals Select Offensive Tackle Darnell Wright In USA TODAY Mock Draft

CINCINNATI — USA Today’s Doug Farrar released his latest 2023 NFL mock draft and has the Bengals selecting Tennessee offensive tackle Darnell Wright with the 28th pick.

“In the case of Wright,” Farrar wrote. “Who has played both left and right tackle for the Volunteers, you need look no further than the two-game stretch in which he faced off against Alabama’s Will Anderson Jr. and LSU’s BJ Ojulari — two of the top edge-rushers in this class — and prevented either one of them from getting anywhere near quarterback Hendon Hooker. I asked Wright about all that when he took his combine podium session, and I was highly impressed with his ability to switch his game to beat two stylistically different edge defenders from week to week. The Bengals would love it if Wright could do that kind of stuff for them.”

According to the consensus big board, this would be a bit of a reach.

Wright is the 44th-ranked player overall and the sixth-ranked offensive tackle in this class. Tackle is a position of need though.

La’el Collins's health is a major question mark for next season, and Jonah Williams hasn’t quite lived up to his lofty draft status so far in his career.
