Aaron Rodgers in Trade Talks with Jets; Future Bills Rivalry in AFC East?

The Buffalo Bills should have their eyes peeled for the potential arrival of one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history joining their division, as Green Bay Packers star Aaron Rodgers is set to have continued trade talks with the New York Jets on Tuesday.

The Buffalo Bills could soon be in for more Aaron Rodgers than they asked for.

The Green Bay Packers star quarterback is having continued discussions with the New York Jets about a possible fit should he be traded to the team, per reports Tuesday from ESPN. These talks began on Monday and are set to continue on Tuesday.

"If he still wants to play and he and the Packers agree it's time for him to play somewhere else, the Jets appear to be a realistic option," per the report.

Rodgers, who has yet to confirm if he'll be back next season, still has one year left on his contract and normally wouldn't be able to speak to teams based on the league's anti-tampering policy. However, per NFL Network, the Packers gave permission to Rodgers to speak with the Jets, making a potential trade from Green Bay look more mutual by the minute.

Of course, this would bring Rodgers to the AFC East, where he and the Bills would meet twice during the regular season for the foreseeable future. Bills quarterback Josh Allen has already gone head-to-head with Rodgers on the golf course. Maybe this extends over to the gridiron.

Still, despite the juicy reports, nothing is set in stone.

Rodgers is set to make a $59.5 million guaranteed this upcoming season and is under contract until 2024. His big-time deal could make things "complicated," as it would pin the Packers with a "$40.3 million 'dead' charge in 2023" - per ESPN - while the Jets' cap would be unbothered since Rodgers' bonus is prorated for next season.

This makes a trade one that may not benefit both sides, but the Packers and Rodgers appear to be looking for a fresh start based on Tuesday's reports.

Either way, the Bills should have their eyes peeled for the potential arrival of one of the best quarterbacks in NFL history joining their division.
