Bills Cut All-Pro Deonte Harty, Clear More Cap Space

The roster moves are coming in waves for the Buffalo Bills on Wednesday, and the latest batch of afternoon news is notable.

The Bills are cutting receiver/returner Deonte Harty after just one season with the team, per reports from NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport.

The Bills also released center Mitch Morse, as the two moves will reportedly clear $12.8 million in cap space.

“The #Bills are planning to release WR and return specialist Deonte Harty, per me and @TomPelissero. The former All-Pro now heads to free agency,” Rapoport tweeted.

Harty was an All-Pro and Pro Bowl selection during his rookie season with the New Orleans Saints in 2019, which made his arrival to Buffalo all the more exciting.

It took him a while to find his stride, but Harty’s best play of the season essentially sealed a fourth straight AFC East title for Buffalo. In the 21-14 win over the Miami Dolphins in Week 18, Harty returned a punt 96 yards for a game-tying touchdown in the fourth quarter before Buffalo eventually took the lead to win the game.

He finished the season with 15 catches (21 targets) for 150 yards and a touchdown in 16 games. He also returned 26 punts for 323 yards and a score.
