Bills Re-Sign S Dean Marlowe Again, Add UDFA TE Joel Wilson

The Buffalo Bills and safety Dean Marlowe are united once again.

As the Buffalo Bills said themselves Monday on Twitter, the team is adding "one new and one familiar face" to the roster as OTAs begin.

The Bills announced that they have re-signed veteran safety Dean Marlowe and inked Central Michigan tight end Joel Wilson to an undrafted free agent deal. If you're counting back-or-forth signings and releases from the practice squad, this marks the sixth time that Marlowe has signed with the Bills after being waived three times by them in his five-year career, per Spotrac.

After having what is still his best NFL season with the Bills in 2020, Marlowe made stops with the Detroit Lions and Atlanta Falcons before being re-acquired by Buffalo via trade with Atlanta in November 2022. Marlowe wound up playing both of the Bills' playoff games this past season, even recording an interception and four tackles in the 34-31 Wild Card win over the Miami Dolphins.

In the 2020 season with the Bills, Marlowe posted just 22 tackles but added 1.5 sacks, one fumble recovery, three passes defended and two interceptions, earning himself a one-year, $1.12 million deal with the Lions later that spring.

As for Wilson, he proved to be a major red-zone threat during his last two seasons at Central Michigan. Playing five years for the Chippewas, he went three seasons without a touchdown and had just seven total catches before finishing with 12 scores and 75 receptions across his final two campaigns combined.

Wilson was set to ink an UDFA deal with the New Orleans Saints, but ended up not signing due to a failed physical, per reports from SI's Saints News Network.
