Bills 'Destiny': Signing Odell Beckham Jr. in Free Agency?

Between his connection to receivers coach Adam Henry and fulfilling a team need, is signing free agent wideout Odell Beckham Jr. the Buffalo Bills' "destiny"?

Free agency is set to kick off across the NFL on Monday, when the legal tampering window officially begins ahead of the start of the new league year Wednesday.

But work on this crop of free agents has already begun - and the stars may be aligning for the Buffalo Bills to land former Pro Bowl receiver Odell Beckham Jr.

Despite not playing a snap last season amidst rehab from a torn ACL in the Super Bowl and simply not finding the right match during a mid-season pursuit, Beckham Jr. still has considerable interest from several teams.

The 30-year-old Beckham Jr., who has played for the New York Giants, Cleveland Browns and Los Angeles Rams, held a workout Friday, which featured 12 NFL organizations - including the Bills.

After having interest in Beckham Jr. during last season, Buffalo is seemingly still interested - and this off-season's hiring of receivers coach Adam Henry only adds to that.

But will it happen?

Pro Football Network thinks so, predicting a pairing between Beckham Jr. and the Bills, thanks in part to the addition of Henry ... making it "destiny."

"There has been a connection between Bills receivers coach Adam Henry and Odell Beckham Jr. dating back to their time together at LSU. It appears the two are bound to one another by destiny. They crossed paths in New York and again in Cleveland.

The Bills need an inexpensive option, and because of injuries, Beckham is exactly that. It also doesn’t hurt that Von Miller has continued with his recruitment of the wide receiver, who he won a Super Bowl with on the Rams." - PFN's Dalton Miller

Across eight professional seasons, Beckham Jr. has hauled in 531 receptions for 7,367 yards and 56 touchdowns en route to three Pro Bowl's and two All-Pro's. However, he hasn't earned any such honors since the conclusion of his third campaign.

There's an element of uncertainty surrounding Beckham Jr.'s return from injury, but in Buffalo, he'd be able to ease his way back into the mix while receiver Stefon Diggs dominates the target share as he did last season.

But the hope for the Bills is that Beckham Jr. would hit his stride down the stretch, much as he did with the Rams after making his debut in Week 10.

After an up-and-down start to his time in Los Angeles, Beckham Jr. starred in the postseason, catching 21 passes for 288 yards and two scores through three and a half games before suffering the aforementioned knee injury.

The focus for Buffalo this offseason is trying to find a way to get over the postseason hump and make it to the Super Bowl for the first time since 1994 - and while the early returns from Beckham Jr. may not show he's capable of doing that, there's certainly a chance he can deliver come January.

And for that - Beckham Jr. joining the Bills might just be "destiny."
