Bills' Jordan Poyer: 'This is Where I'm Gonna Finish My Career'

After re-signing on Wednesday, Buffalo Bills safety Jordan Poyer is leaving no doubt about his future in Orchard Park.

Jordan Poyer doesn't regret his comments regarding New York's state taxes.

"I know I said some stuff about the taxes. I think we can all agree like, 'What the hell? Yes!'" Poyer said with a laugh. "I mean, sorry. I said it. I said the truth."

But even that wasn't enough to keep away from playing for the Buffalo Bills in a place he knows is "home," as he spoke to the media Thursday after re-signing a two-year deal to stay in Buffalo, admitting that this is where he's going to finish his NFL career.

"I didn't want to leave," he said. "And I'm home now. This is where I'm gonna finish my career. I'm really excited about that."

Poyer had previously teased signing with the likes of the Miami Dolphins, and revealed Thursday that a handful of other organizations were ringing his phone.

Still, it was the goals he set upon first arriving to Orchard Park in 2017 that couldn't keep him away. This, combined with the relationships he's built in Buffalo made the decision more difficult than he had been willing to show.

And there might be no one Poyer is closer with than fellow safety Micah Hyde. Their championship goals have hardly taken a hit despite the uncertainty of this offseason.

"I'm here to help the team win a championship and that's been my goal since I came here in 2017," Poyer said. "I remember talking to Micah ... his first time we saw each other in Buffalo and was like 'Bro, we are going to turn this city around and we're going to give the city a championship. And that's been our goal since we got here and it hasn't changed."

Poyer, 31, still has an offseason of recovery and healing ahead after what he said was the hardest year of his career both mentally and physically.

But if playing on a torn meniscus last season didn't stop him, than what will?

"I truly want to help the team win the championship and we actually believe that we do have the right team to do that," he said. "And so, run it back!"
