Bills QB Josh Allen Can Win 'Fascinating' MVP Race vs. Dolphins, Says Analyst

Buffalo Bills quarterback Lamar Jackson is an extreme long shot to win MVP, but one analyst believes it's still possible.

After having no clear frontrunner for most of the season, the NFL MVP race seems to be mostly settled with Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson sitting at -20000 odds to win the award, per FanDuel Sportsbook.

However, ESPN analyst Dan Orlovsky isn't quite convinced the race is over yet. On Friday, Orlovsky posted on social media that he believes Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, who currently has the fourth-best odds to win the award at +3000, can at least vault himself back into contention with an elite performance against the Miami Dolphins.

"If Josh Allen accounts for 4+ touchdowns Sunday and Bills win, he will have 46 touchdowns 4800+ yards," Orlovsky wrote on X. "The race for voters between him and Lamar is gonna be fascinating."

The Bills have a huge opportunity on Sunday night, with a chance to take the AFC East crown under the Dolphins' nose in the final game of the NFL regular season. If Allen can leave a lasting impression, then maybe he could sway some voters.

However, Allen is fighting a massive uphill battle, if the odds alone weren't enough of an indication. While he has an edge over Jackson in total yards and touchdowns, the Ravens star has committed significantly fewer turnovers this season. Allen has thrown 16 interceptions (second-most in the league) and lost three fumbles, while Jackson has only thrown seven picks and lost two fumbles.

Additionally, the Bills haven't even locked up a playoff spot yet. If they lose to the Dolphins and the Pittsburgh Steelers and Jacksonville Jaguars win, Buffalo will go without playoff football for the first time since 2018, Allen's rookie season.

There is a theoretical chance that Allen could make the race more interesting with a great performance on Sunday, especially with Jackson resting up for the playoffs, but the odds look like too much to overcome at this point.
