'Wide Right!' Bills Fall to Chiefs, Patrick Mahomes in Another Playoff Heartbreaker

The Buffalo Bills fell to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Divisional on Sunday.

The Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs found themselves at the cinematic center of the football world on Sunday in the AFC Divisional at Highmark Stadium.

Josh Allen vs. Patrick Mahomes. A trip to the AFC Championship on the line. Taylor Swift. This game had endless story lines to follow.

But in the end, the headliner is the Chiefs, who will continue their run at back-to-back Super Bowl wins while keeping the T-Swift magic alive.

Bills kicker Tyler Bass missed a potential game-tying 44-yard field goal with 1:47 left in the fourth quarter and the Chiefs held off Buffalo in a 27-24 road win on Sunday.

“I feel terrible,'' Bass said. "I love this team and this one hurts bad.”

Bills quarterback Josh Allen continued his two-way brilliance despite the loss. Buffalo's passing offense failed to find consistency, which bit the Bills late when Allen missed a wide-open Khalil Shakir in the end zone on their final drive of the game. Buffalo instead settled for the field goal, which Bass missed.

Allen battled with Mahomes, who got the better of his AFC star counterpart. He found star tight end Travis Kelce for a pair of touchdowns while Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco added the go-ahead touchdown to begin the fourth quarter and the game-sealing first down in the final minutes.

Said Allen: "It sucks. Losing sucks. Losing to them. Losing to anybody. At home. It sucks.''

The Chiefs will visit the Baltimore Ravens in the AFC Championship next Sunday.
