Floyd, the No. 9 overall pick by the Chicago Bears in 2016, is coming off another successful individual season, though the campaign was a tough one for the defending champion Rams. LA finished with a disappointing 5-12 record, but Floyd posted his third consecutive nine-sack season, all of which came during his time as a Ram.
"This gives us another body, another pass-rusher," Bills general manager Brandon Beane said on The Pat McAfee Show. "We've faced Leonard with the Rams this year. He's a player the last three years who has had close to 30 sacks."
In 2021, Floyd had a career-high in total tackles (70) and solo tackles (37) while tallying 9.5 sacks, a forced fumble, and an interception. And in LA's win over the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI, Floyd was one of five Rams to record a sack.
He won a ring alongside current Bills linebacker Von Miller in LA, who made sure to put in a good word for Floyd with Beane.
"When I asked Von about him, once we started talking to Leonard and his people, I definitely checked in with Von to see his thoughts and he signed off," Beane said. "Great guy, fits or culture."
Getting a sack specialist like Floyd on a cheaper deal could prove to be a steal for the Bills, but they'll have to reach the championship heights that he and Miller have experienced in order to make the one-year deal worth it.
