Buffalo Bills Hosting Free Agent RB Leonard Fournette; Signing Next?

The Buffalo Bills are hosting former Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette for a free agent visit.

The Buffalo Bills could be looking to add to their running back room following the injury to Damien Harris in Sunday's win over the New York Giants.

Per NFL insider Jordan Schultz, the Bills are hosting former Super Bowl-winning Tampa Bay Buccaneers running back Leonard Fournette for a free agent visit on Tuesday. The two sides could soon be coming to a contract agreement "if all goes well."

"Fournette has fielded interest from several teams, and there’s a good chance he signs in Buffalo if all goes well," Schultz tweeted.

Fournette, 28, was released by the Bucs in cap-clearing move in March. Last season, he rushed 189 times for 668 yards and three touchdowns. He added 73 catches for 523 yards and three more scores.

Fournette could potentially join a Bills running back room that currently features James Cook and Latavius Murray. There's already been optimism from the team regarding Harris' neck injury, but he's still expected to be out for an undetermined amount of time.

Fournette has previously stated how important it is to play for a Super Bowl contender.

“Winning is everything,” Fournette said in an interview with the Tampa Bay Times. “That’s all. And in my last three years here, that’s all we’ve done. But since my guy (Brady) left — that’s why I came — so my time here was up.”

Fournette began last season as the RB1 in Tampa Bay's offense, as it was once again Super Bowl-or-bust for Tom Brady and Co. But the Bucs managed to finish with the league's worst rushing offense by a mile, averaging the fewest rushing yards per game (76.9), scoring the fewest rushing touchdowns (five) and fewest average yards per carry (3.4).

While part of this was due to Brady leading the league with 733 pass attempts, the Bucs consistently found themselves in holes due to a lackluster rushing attack and overall poor offense.

But Fournette could now get another chance at a Super Bowl, this time in the AFC with the Bills if they officially sign him. Buffalo visits the New England Patriots for a Week 7 matchup on Sunday.
