Bills OT Tommy Doyle Ruled OUT for Season

"The dude’s a warrior. I feel for him," Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen said of the injury to Tommy Doyle.

The Buffalo Bills' offensive line depth took a major hit during Saturday's 27-15 preseason loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers, as offensive tackle Tommy Doyle had to be carted off after falling awkwardly on his left knee in the second half.

Bills coach Sean McDermott announced Sunday that Doyle will miss the entire 2023 season with a left knee injury.

Both McDermott and quarterback Josh Allen had tons of dissapointment in their voice on Saturday when discussing the injury postgame. Doyle, 25, tore his ACL near the end of last season and was just getting his return to the field underway.

“It’s just unfortunate,” McDermott said. “He’s worked so hard and put in so much time and I know how much this game means to him and how much this team means to him.”

"The dude’s a warrior. I feel for him. I think everybody on our team feels for him, just seeing how hard he worked to get back," Allen said. “I’m not sure what it is and the severity of it, but we’re thinking about him, we’re praying for him. We love him. I think you can see how many guys went out there and gave him a little tap or just an ‘I love you man.’ You hate to see it. It’s a part of the game, but you hate to see it, especially when it’s your own teammates and a guy who has worked so hard to get back on the field.”

A fifth-round pick by Buffalo in 2021, Doyle caught a touchdown pass in the Bills' 47-17 blowout win over the New England Patriots in the 2021 AFC Wild Card.
