Bills 'Missed Their Window'? Analyst 'Scared' For Super Bowl Chances

Can the Buffalo Bills stay atop a more competitive AFC East? NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms has his doubts and worries there's "too much on Josh Allen's shoulders."

The Buffalo Bills' path to a fourth straight AFC East title may be their toughest yet.

NBC Sports analyst Chris Simms picked the over and under for Buffalo and the other teams in the AFC East on his podcast "Chris Simms Unbuttoned." Draft Kings set the Bills' line at 10.5.

Simms took the under for the Bills and voiced his concern over the team surrounding Josh Allen

"You know my thoughts on their quarterback," Simms said. "He's a Hall of Fame talent. He's a superstar. He's one of the best in the game. We've talked a million times about is there enough blue chip, cream of the crop players on the roster. I still say no."

Simms added that he's scared for the Bills' championship chances due to the pressure on Allen.

"Is there too much on Josh Allen's shoulders? Of course there is," he said. "Whether it was talking to people who played the Bills or talking to people who played on the Bills, they say they knew we're not going to win games unless Josh Allen is a baller and carries the team. That's where I get scared of the Bills. I get scared that the Bills missed their window already."

Simms took the under for the New York Jets (9.5) and the over for the Miami Dolphins (9.5) and New England Patriots (6.5). Despite not much separation among the top three teams, Buffalo had the best odds to win the division at +120. The Jets were at +270 and Dolphins just trailed at +300, while New England had the longest odds at +800.

While Simms isn't as high on the Bills, he still said he's going to pick them to make the playoffs. The concerns that Simms raised were Buffalo's offensive line and difference makers on defense outside of Von Miller, who may miss the first four games of the season.

The Bills' schedule from Week 11 to Week 18 also gave Simms pause. Buffalo plays the Jets, Eagles, Chiefs, Cowboys, Chargers, Patriots and Dolphins.

They also play the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 9.

"They are the lesser team on the field, no doubt about it," Simms said for Buffalo from Week 11 to Week 18 "If teams are relatively healthy and we broke down those teams right now, we would definitely come away with more players and positions groups from those teams than we would the Bills."

With the Dolphins and Jets seemingly much improved after splitting the season series with the Bills in 2022, a dip in wins for the reigning AFC East champs isn't far-fetched. Even with a tough schedule and more competitive division, Buffalo shouldn't be counted out with Allen leading the way.
