Increasing the likelihood they'll buttress the position in this month's NFL draft, the Denver Broncos are slated to host Kentucky running back Ray Davis on a top-30 visit Tuesday, The Denver Post's Ryan McFadden reported.

A second-team All-SEC selection in 2023, his only season with the Wildcats, Davis averaged 5.7 yards per carry for 1,129 rushing yards and a school-record 21 total touchdowns (seven receiving) across all 13 starts.

The 5-foot-8, 211-pound back transferred to Lexington from Vanderbilt where he spent two years (2021-22), and to the Commodores' program from Temple, where he played his first two collegiate campaigns (2019-2020). Altogether, he amassed 4,388 career yards from scrimmage and 41 TDs, 29 of which came on the ground.

"Three-down back with adequate blend of toughness between the tackles and production out of the backfield," NFL.com's Lance Zierlein wrote in his scouting profile. "Davis can be a tad indecisive at times but did a much better job of toggling between urgent and patient in his lone season at Kentucky. The vision is fairly average, and he's not going to scare NFL defenses with his speed, but he does alter his pacing to create openings, and he'll finish with some thud behind his pads. Ultimately, he'll need to step up his pass protection to be trusted as a third-down option. Davis' compact frame, toughness and ability to catch the football could make him a middle-round option as a three-down backup with the ability to play a larger role in time."

Davis, 25 (in November), is the latest RB prospect to be connected to Denver, which reportedly also has "a good amount of interest" in Tennessee's Jaylen Wright, a potential Day 2 pick.

The Broncos currently have four runners under contract for the 2024 season: Javonte Williams, Samaje Perine, Jaleel McLaughlin, and Tyler Badie.
