The Denver Broncos are among a handful of NFL teams interested in rugby star Louis Rees-Zammit, who worked out for the team on Monday, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport.

Rees-Zammit — an incoming member of the league's International Player Pathway Program (IPP) — is also visiting the Kansas City Chiefs on Tuesday, having already met last week with the Cleveland Browns and New York Jets, per Rapoport.

A former winger for his native Wales, Rees-Zammit, 23, recently left Gloucester Rugby after seven years to pursue a professional football career, whereupon he hopes to stick as a running back, wide receiver, and/or kick returner.

At 6-foot-3, 209 pounds, Rees-Zammit impressed onlookers at the NFL International Pro Day earlier this month, running the forty-yard dash in 4.43 seconds — other attempts, he claims, were recorded in the "low 4.3s, high 4.2s" — while adding a 29-inch vertical jump and nine-foot-seven-inch broad jump.

"I'm pretty happy with how I ran my routes, just about how fluid I
could be, how I could show off my change of direction, how I can get in
and out of breaks," he told the Associated Press. "I think there are a lot of transferable
skills. In rugby, you're always trying to get your hands on the ball as
much as often and you're always trying to break defenses, look for
spaces, be aware.

"Catching kickoffs, catch and kick receipts, punt receipts, there's
a lot of transferable skills, and I think running back shows up
probably best, getting the ball in my hand early, being able to pick a
gap, being able to be aware of the surroundings."

In the IPP's history, 37 players from varying countries have landed with NFL clubs, including Nigerian-born defensive lineman Haggai Chisom Ndubuisi, who was allocated to Denver last season and spent the 2023 campaign on the Broncos' practice squad.
