PFF Bandies CB Kendall Fuller as Free-Agent Target for Broncos

'Investing in this position is necessary.'

All the talk surrounding the Denver Broncos has been and will continue to be centered around who's passing the ball for them in 2024. Rightly so, as it's undoubtedly their biggest unanswered question and warrants priority.

However, a legitimate discussion should exist about who will defend the pass. Patrick Surtain II is great, but who's behind him? Fabian Moreau and K'Waun Williams? They're impending free agents, unlikely to return. Damarri Mathis? Last season proved he's not starting material. Riley Moss? Still a bit too green.

With only arguably Ja'Quan McMillian to depend upon, cornerback is a need the Broncos must address — and Pro Football Focus knows how, advising the club to target Washington Commanders CB Kendall Fuller when the NFL's signing period opens next month.

"Fuller has experience as both an inside and outside cornerback in the NFL but has predominantly out wide in recent years," PFF's Gordon McGuinness wrote in January. "He’ll be 29 years old when the 2024 NFL season begins, though so this might be the time when a move back to the slot makes sense. The Broncos didn't roster any cornerbacks who earned a 65.0-plus PFF coverage grade in 2023, so investing in the position is necessary this offseason."

A ninth-year veteran, Fuller entered the league as a 2016 third-round pick by Washington. He's spent the majority of his playing days in the nation's capital, save for a stint with the Kansas City Chiefs from 2018-19 during which he won a Super Bowl.

Although never selected to a Pro Bowl or decorated with All-Pro honors, Fuller is quietly established among the sport's best cover men, finishing the 2023 campaign as Pro Football Focus' seventh-ranked CB out of 127 qualifiers.

For his career, Fuller has notched 486 total tackles, 75 pass deflections, 16 interceptions, and two defensive touchdowns across 117 games (93 starts).
